Special counsel Robert Mueller has finally set his sights on questioning President Trump in regards to his interactions with former FBI Director James Comey and former Trump National Security Adviser Michael Flynn, according to a new report released this Wednesday.
Mueller’s team sent Trump’s lawyers a list of possible interview points, CNN reported.
Mueller is also seeking to uncovered more about Trump reportedly demanding that Comey drop the FBI’s investigation into Flynn, which Trump called a “Comey lie.”
The special counsel is also looking into Trump’s call to lawmakers about congressional investigations into Russian collusion during in the 2016 election, CNN reported.
Mueller is taking part in a criminal investigation into the possible collusion between the Trump campaign and Russia.
Trump declared this Wednesday that he is open to speaking with Mueller as part of the investigation, and willing to do so under oath. He explained to reporters that he expects the interview to take place during the next two to three weeks, but said his lawyers are still hashing out the specifics.
Mueller has declined to offer a comment to the ongoing situation.
CNN reported had claimed Wednesday that Mueller intends to speak to former White House chief strategist Stephen Bannon about Comey and Flynn as well.
Mueller’s investigation has been successful so far with two indictments and two guilty pleas.
Former Trump campaign chairman Paul Manafort and his former business associate, Richard Gates, were held up with money laundering and tax fraud, among other charges mostly related to the pair’s work for a pro-Russia political party in the Ukraine.
Flynn and former Trump campaign adviser George Papadopoulos pleaded guilty to lying to the FBI.
