John Kelly hasn’t been a great fit as Chief of Staff since the very beginning and on more than one occasion, John Kelly has expressed his frustration with how Trump handles certain situations. Trump and Kelly have to work side by side, and Kelly has been seen physically disagreeing with Trump during a Trump Tower press conference where he couldn’t even bring himself to look up and just kept shaking his head. Two sources close to the White House spoke with Vanity Fair and revealed that Trump is already on the hunt for a new Chief of Staff. And guess who he’s appointed for the job? His daughter, Ivanka Trump. “Ivanka is the most worried about it. She’s trying to figure who replaces Kelly,” a close source said of the situation.
Despite the shift in personnel, Trump does not intend to fire Kelly. Not yet, anyway. A source said, “He wants to stay longer than Reince [Priebus]. Trump also has to be wary of more negative press.” Although Trump and Kelly do not have the best relationship, the best place to keep Kelly would be in the White House. ‘This could be like [Jeff] Sessions,’ explained a Republican. As Sessions and Trump are also on rocky terms.
Trump and Kelly’s relationship hit an all time low after it was reported that they fought over immigration. Also, after Kelly told Fox News in an interview that trump’s views on building the border wall had “evolved” and that Trump was “uninformed” when he initially promised the wall, Trump was furious. So mad that he tweeted “The Wall is the Wall, it has never changed or evolved from the first day I conceived of it.”
